Sleep

I have a confession to make. Today as I was changing over laundry I realized I have a problem. I am obsessed with sleep. Every action and thought through the day is centered around sleep. I guess this is the biggest thing I've learned being a new mom. When they wake up, the next focus is the next nap. Once they're up, the next focus is the next nap. Once they're up, the next focus is nap or bedtime. Everything revolves around sleep. His and mine. He needs to take good naps so he goes down for bed and sleeps better through the night so in turn I can get some sleep through the night. I realized every baby book I've purchased revolves around getting your baby to sleep. Every other mom I talk to, it's about sleep. How is you baby sleeping? Does he sleep through the night? I realize this is probably normal and sleep truly is very important but I've realized it is consuming too many of my thoughts. Instead I just need to enjoy sleep when it happens...just like this little guy.

That picture is so hilarious!! You are so right. Do the best you can and then just enjoy it when it happens:) I try to remember with Max that before long he'll be two and will sleep through the night just fine so for now I'm going to enjoy him and if he wants to cuddle in my arms and sleep sometimes then good. He won't do that forever!!

Oh Suz I totally know the feeling! McCrae is only three weeks old and I have the same thoughts. I shower at like 2pm everyday because we are usually catching up on sleep. Let me know any secrets for sleeping through the nights!

Good luck sleeping Suzy! I finally got to sleep in after 5 1/2 years of being a mom :) It was heaven! It will probably be another 5 years before it happens again :)

Yeah, it's even crazier when you have a 4-year-old and a 2-year-old that don't take naps and want to play games when the baby is sleeping. Sleep does get better though. Aliza is doing really good right now....8 hour nights. Don't worry, it will get better! Now I know why my Mom still goes to bed at 8:30 pm. :)
