Baby Update

I just thought I'd update the blog real quick with the current status of Knox since I've had a few people ask since I haven't posted much about him. I wish I was posting fun pictures of our week together but we've again had a few set backs. We got to take Knox home from the NICU last Sunday and had 4 great days with him at home. His lungs were all healed up and we got a healthy baby. On Thursday I was unfortunate enough to find a bloody diaper. After speaking with our pediatrician and watching it for a few hours, we came to Primary Children's. We learned that Knox has a bacterial disease in his colon which is called NEC. It is completely unrelated to the lung disease he had previously and as with before, they say it's extremely rare and usually only seen in premie babies. We're now up at Primary Children's and it's looking like we'll be here for awhile. Our poor little baby has been through so much, it's been a terrible way to spend the first month of life. We didn't think it could get worse then the pneuomthorax in his lungs, but we've learned we were wrong. It is breaking our hearts to see our little man go through so much but he is a strong and patient little spirit so we're confident once again that he'll pull through. Fortunately we caught it quickly and hopefully he'll respond just as rapidly to treatment. Thanks to everyone for their concern and hopefully soon we can have some good news to post about.
