In shape to be in shape?

I'm feeling discouraged and a tad bit unmotivated. I was in the best shape of my life before I had Knox and even felt ambitious enough to tackle this...

I know, I know, you've all seen the infomercial for P90X but who doesn't want abs like that crazy dude? I'd heard terrific things about it so I got the DVDs and was set to get ripped. Well, I soon found out I was pregnant with Knox and because of the placenta previa I couldn't work out. Since having Knox, it's been so hard to get motivated to work out again! What happened to me? I'm falling apart. Before I was so careful about what I ate and how much water I drank. Now I'm all about the fries and diet coke and trying to come up with as many excuses as possible as to why I should be sitting on the couch. How in the world did I get here and how do I get motivated again? I decided I'd had enough and I was going to start P90X to transform my body as the ripped man promised. As if I was discouraged enough before, this sure put a dagger in my spirits. I guess you have to be in shape...to be in shape! I quickly realized I will have to be in pretty decent shape before I can attempt to do these DVDs. Back to square one. Time to dust off the treadmill and break out the Biggest Loser DVDs. Back to basics for me. Lesson learned....do not stop working out, once you do it's all downhill from there.

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I was in great shape and working out at least every other day before I got pregnant with britt and it took me a really long time to get motivated. I have P90X too, and you really don't need to be in amazing shape to get started. Do some of the cardio stuff at first to get your routine and core back, and just go from there. It'll come back!! We got a membership to the YMCA and they watch your kids while you workout, which is another good motivator- free babysitting! :) And after you workout you can get ready there!

Sorry for the novel, but keep it up! Your body has a memory, and you'll bounce right back! But you look great anyway!

I'm having the same problem...as I think all mom's do at some point in their lives. My hubby does the P90X and is totally loving it. I tried it once and liked it too, but I can't quite get into it. I KNOW I need to but I just can't.

I hope you have better luck than I do and getting motivated!

I feel the same way! Ahhh! I don't know what to do. I've never thought of myself as lazy until now. And it gets worse because I won't work out. I started back up again a few months after Bailey and was doing good. Then we went out of town and I haven't done it since. That was about 4 months ago. Sad...

That entry explained me totally. It's easy to find excuses not to work out...and sometimes Mom's do end up putting everyone before themselves, but I'm motivated as well to get those abs...especially the butt. I've been running again a little bit and my Mom is sending me her P90X CD's. We should motivate each other when we get in shape to be in shape. Let me know when you're up for it!

Past and present motivators for me are: someone to work out with(when you have it scheduled and know someone is counting on you to show up you are way more likely to do it--and a little competition never hurts), a gym with free babysitting (for social reasons as well as physical and time away from motherdom), AND (though it can be soooo annoying) a husband who reminds me AND makes the time for me to go work out. If you need a workout buddy head my way. . . I've honestly not heard of P90X, but I'll do it with you!! And I've had to come up with some pretty creative ways to get the workout in since my hubby is gone so much, I'd be happy to share ;).

Ok sister. I got p90x for my birthday last year and guess how many times I've used it. You nailed it, twice! I did yoga both times and being a regular reformer pilates gal was ever so suprised to find that I had sustained injuries. Ease your way in! And you look great so eat rocks!

No way! You have P90x?? I was going to put a hold on it at the library (how cheap am I?) but there were a billion holds! If you ever want a buddy to do the videos with, call me!
