Thoughts

Being home for 2 weeks now, there are a few things I have learned about adding another kid to the brood...
  • Changing a toddler's diaper suddenly feels a little unnatural. He's a giant!
  • Speaking of diapers, how did I forget that you change a newborn about 10 times a day?
  • Not just diapers but outfits
  • The luxury of leaving the baby in the bouncy seat/floor/couch is now non-existent. The little giant is now a giant threat to baby.
  • The advice "sleep when your baby sleeps" is apparently only applicable with one child. Dang.
  • I ask myself daily why I thought one baby was so hard. Turns out it's the toddler who is more demanding.
  • I don't worry about Wes nearly as much. Your first baby teaches you kids are pretty darn resilient.
  • I've seemed to already forgotten everything about a newborn even though Knox is only 22 months. When do they smile? I have no idea. When do they start rolling? No clue. Glad I held on to those books.
  • When you're nursing, you're the only one that can feed your baby. I never got to nurse Knox and when 2am rolls around I want to nudge Dave and tell him it's his turn. Crap, I'm the only one with the food. This has been a learning experience. To all you mom's that nurse all your kids for a year...you are my heroes. Seriously.
  • No matter how hard you try, there is no way to equally split your time between both kids.
  • I used to wonder how I could love something as much as Knox. What they say is true...your capacity to love just increases.
These photos below give me continued hope that Knox will grow a greater capacity to love his little brother :) I couldn't get a picture of the baby without Knox wanting to be in it....

I came out this morning and Knox was trying to share his toys with baby...or suffocate him. Those trains weigh like 2 pounds each....

I feel so lucky that I get to be a mom to these two boys!

It sounds like we're realizing a lot of the same things :) Britton is potty trained, but I can't even imagine having to change him!! His bum is huge compared to a newborns! ha ha. I completely forgot when babies do everything too. I always pull faces and make noises expecting Damon to react to me and he just stares... Oh yeah, that takes a while :) I hope you're doing well and recovering quickly!! We can relearn everything together!

your a trooper!!! Your new little man is so CUTE!! Congrats! I forgot everything with the twins, I still don't know if they should be talking more or less at this point;) How fun to have a new little baby, in all honesty I start hyper ventilating when I think of a new baby in our house but to see others is fun, lol;) Good luck my girl, he sure is a SWEET!

You are my hero! I'm already getting anxiety for baby #2 and I'm not even pregnant, or anywhere near being pregnant! Whenever I feel like I have it hard, I just tell myself to enjoy it now...cause with the next baby, I'll also have a toddler! Suzy...you are amazing, and I don't know how you are doing it. I guess just 1 day at a time until you get your routine and feel capable doing everything with 2...and then you'll get a sick joke played on you again when you have a 3rd! LOVE YOU!

Being a mother to toddlers and babies can be exhausting. My oldest two are 20 months apart.

However, it is so so so much fun. I remember my toddler feeding my baby an M&M while my back was turned. There I was frantically digging candy out of a tiny babies mouth. I miss those days. Enjoy yourself. Cute cute pictures.

Yes nursing means more work at the beginning, but you will love it when you have less to take with you as you head out. No bottles or formula. It has its plus and minuses. I love that Knox is sharing his toys, how thoughtful!
PS I miss you, BIG TIME!

Wes is darling. Congratulations. I'm glad he is healthy and gaining weight.

I loved all of your thoughts because I remember going through each of them after giving birth to Ruby. Such a fun/busy time.
